After entering the building through a magnificent entrance with old cobblestones, you access the apartment from one easy flight of stairs. Old oak floors, tasteful French antiques furniture, the apartment radiates French old Art de Vivre.
The apartment articulates itself around a hallway that opens up to four doors:
On the right is the bathroom (with a combination of shower/tub, sink, washer and dryer and a toilet.)
In the middle is the access to the dining room and kitchen (fully equipped with burners, dishwasher, microwave oven, oven, fridge, toaster and coffee-machine, as well as all necessary kitchen utensils). The dining-room has a table for 6.
On the left is the living room there are two single-beds acting as sofas and which can be assembled in a large queen-size bed, a coffee-table, dresser, armchair, desk, stereo-CD player, and cable TV (CNN, BBC news, etc.). Complimentary high speed Internet DSL connection and computer are available. Depending on sleeping arrangements, it can be used as a second bedroom.
The bedroom, overlooking the splendid courtyard is the last door and has a bed for two guests, a very large dresser.
The apartment comfortably sleeps 4 guests and is bright and quiet. A fifth guest can sleep on the sofa bed.
The apartment keeps cool during summer thanks to its over 3 feet thick stone walls. An additional portable A/C unit provides a fresh breeze if needed.
The Seine is so close that you could nearly listen to the water running along, and, as in the old time, salute the captains of the barges!
Location
Ile St. Louis - perhaps the most special spot in the most special city in the world - is only six blocks long and two blocks wide. This quaint little island, with no subway stop, is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Three metro lines however, can easily be reached by crossing the appropriate bridge to the Left or Right Banks. You'll be one of a community of about 6,000 surrounded by 16th and 17th century mansions, with their beautiful stone-paved courtyards; fashionable shops, and terrific restaurants.
The most famous ice cream shop in Paris, Berthillon, is a few seconds away and the Seine River is at your doorstep! Each time you cross the Pont de la Tournelle, "on the way to the continent," as the locals like to say, you'll have a breathtaking view of Notre Dame that will leave you dazzled. The Latin Quarter on the Left Bank, and the Marais on the Right Bank, are just short strolls away. This is truly the heart of Paris!
Located in a beautiful 17th Century building on the Ile Saint Louis, on the banks of the Seine River, in a small and very quiet street, and right next to the lively "rue Saint-Louis en l'Ile" with stores, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
