Enter the stone courtyard through a big battered carriage door, once the entrance for horse-drawn buggies. Walk across to your somewhat more youthful 18th century building, with its 6 floors, into your fashionable Parisian loft located at the top (accessible by elevator).

The living area is one open space that has been designed to create two different “rooms”. The first, as you enter the apartment, is an entertainment area with an ‘L’-shaped couch and chairs surrounding a flat screen TV and CD player.

The second “room” is a conversation configuration, situated around the original stone fireplace.

The black chandeliers and the two- tone parquetry of the floor add a sense of energy and geometry to this luxurious space.

At the far end of this room is the kitchen. A stone floor and stone counter tops, plentiful cupboard space, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, washing machine and dryer are all neatly contained. Windows look out onto chimney pots and rooftops and in the distance, Sacre Coeur.

The guest bathroom, just down the hall from the main room is marble-lined, has a shower and toilet, a full length mirror as well as a beautifully lit mirror over the vanity. The heated towel rail ensures warmth even on chilly mornings.

A second door of this bathroom leads into the second bedroom thereby creating an en-suite for the guest bedroom. This room has built in closets and a double bed. A small breakfast table and chairs offers a little private space for that first cup of morning coffee. Across the hall is the main bedroom and en-suite bath. A double bed, built in wardrobe, corner chest of draws and bedside tables provide every comfort. The en-suite master bathroom is marble lined with full size bath, shower, toilet and vanity basin and heated towel rail.

Ah the Marais, the enchanting ancient neighborhood with its leafy squares and mossy courtyards- home to museums, boutiques, galleries, and trendy restaurants all slipped in between landmark townhouses and historic buildings.

Heavy carriage doors hide pocket gardens and converted workshops.

The Place des Vosges with its 36 four story pavilions will eventually summon you to its royal tree-shaded square. Visit the twice-weekly Boulevard Richard-Lenoir open market.

In the Jewish quarter there is rich history and good eating, as this neighborhood is now well known for its delicious middle-eastern and Yiddish/Eastern European specialties.

There is something for everyone in this neighborhood, one of the few that preserves the narrow streets and architectural styles of medieval and Renaissance era Paris.
