Description
This is one of the oldest areas of Paris and strolling down the small streets of Quartier Latin is like traveling back in time. When you enter the courtyard of the building, you feel like you ventured in the countryside in the center of Paris.
The apartment is located on the 3rd floor in a building that used to be a convent in the XVIIIth century. It is quiet, filled with light, yet just a few blocks away from Pantheon, the Luxembourg garden and rue Mouffetard.
The apartment is on two levels. The main room is very spacious and overlooks the garden.
It combines modern and antique furniture, and the Ligne Roset sofa is so inviting you may want to spend the whole day browsing through the collection of books and catalogues that fill the bookshelves. Or you may just sit down and enjoy the view of garden and the carefully preserved architecture. The original building dates back to the XVIth century and inspired some of the stories by Victor Hugo in Les Miserables.
The kitchen also overlooks the garden and is a delightful place to enjoy breakfast, read the morning paper or birdwatch. It is fully equipped.
On the upper level, the bedroom overlooks a very quiet street. Opposite is the Couvent des Spiritains which has a lovely chapel. Again, a mix of modern (flat screen TV, fast internet access) and antique (Louis XV secretary) makes this room a great place to relax from the buzz and trepidation of Parisian life. A whole wall of closet space invites you to unpack and feel at home. On the same level, the bathroom, sleek and modern, as well as separate WC and washer/dryer.
Location
The sights and sounds of the open air market of rue Mouffetard will beckon you forth from the comforts of this large one bedroom duplex vacation flat in the Latin Quarter.
Its proximity to this pedestrian-only street, the Sorbonne and the Luxembourg Gardens make this comfortable, tastefully appointed apartment a must-see vacation rental.
